UPDATED DATA
Dear School Bus Riders:
NOTICE: THE ATTACHED SCHEDULES are for 2007-2008
Bus Transportation began on MONDAY AUGUST 27, 2007
These sheets reflect changes as of the date above.
The bus routes for this year started in the Annapolis/Bowie,
Dunkirk/Upper Marlboro, Waldorf/Ft. Washington and
As of this date the
Schedules/pick-up locations have been identified and we tried to accommodate all of the students who completed the attached form and returned it to the DeMatha HS Business Office with the required deposit.
The route costs are:
Fuel costs continue to escalate and we were forced to keep pace with the new fuel costs therefore, our basic fee increases reflect those increases. We do not anticipate further adjustments however if fuel prices do not stabilize soon it may be necessary to assess an additional fuel surcharge.
DeMatha Transportation also provides limited transportation
to
Bus transportation costs will NOT be billed with the FACTS payment plan; costs will be billed separately for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters. Payments for the bus must be made prior to the beginning of each quarter. The school cannot and will not prorate the cost for one-way riders or missed rides.
Bus start times are established with sufficient time for the bus to arrive at school at least 10 to 15 minutes prior to the start of classes, and departure is 20 minutes after the last bell. Each bus driver will be able to notify the schools if a traffic problem delays the bus arrival. The drivers will have an attendance roster.
On occasion students may choose not to return on the bus in the afternoon due to after-school activities. Students are encouraged to keep the bus driver informed of their intentions so they do not cause unnecessary delays. Please be prompt and considerate of the other bus riders.
Bus services includes a morning trip and a return trip on mid-term and final exam dates. The DeMatha School Calendar is used for bus schedules and DeMatha HS will decide the late starts and early dismissals. Routing information will be determined after the sign-up period has con clued and it will be distributed to everyone upon return of the initial deposit form. We prefer contacts be made by e-mail as a quick and easy method to reach everyone in a very short period of time. Transportation information is also available on the DeMatha.Org website, look for links to transportation.
In general, all routes and pick-up points are being established to accommodate those students who respond by the above date. Pickup locations are typically at centralized points to facilitate a quick and safe collection of students without delaying traffic. Afternoon drop offs will also be worked out for quick and safe locations, generally in the same vicinity as the morning pickups. We cannot provide “door to door” service due to timing and traffic patterns especially during morning rush hour periods. In the past centrally located pick-up and drop-off points have worked out very well.
Typical route alignments are listed below. The goal is to have safe locations for the school bus to load and unload, and to use areas where shelter from bad weather is available.
Starts at Annapolis Harbor Center area of Annapolis with stops at/near Route 424/50, at Harbour Way at Route 301, at/near Route 450/3, at/near Route 450/197, at/near Route 450/193 and then on to the school.
Departs Jesus the Good Shepherd Church at approximately 6:15am and travels Route 4 thru Upper Marlboro onto Route 725 to Route 202 with 2-4 stops to accommodate riders on/off Route 202 and then to the School.
Departs St Mary’s Church Rockville, stops at Shrine of St.
Jude, Rockville, stops at St. Catherine LaBoure, Wheaton, stops at St. Andrew the
Apostle, Silver Spring, stops at St. John the Evangelist, Silver Spring, stops
at St. Bernadette, Silver Spring, makes stop at Prince George’s Plaza Metro and
ends at DeMatha. (Discontinued for 07-08, Maybe re-established if sufficient
riders sign-up)
Departs White Plains/St. Charles area of Route 5, and will travel to Route 210 via Berry Road, travel will continue north on Route 210 to right on Palmer Rd to Allentown Rd, past Andrews AFB Route 4 to Route 295 to the School.
